ClamAV™ 0.94 has reached End of LifeThis is old news, but maybe not everyone is aware of this. The ClamAV™ antivirus filter software version 0.94.x won't work anymore due to a bug with long signatures. This fact was announced on 5 October 2009 on the ClamAV™ web site. The bug stops incremental updates from working and puts an enormous load on the mirror servers. If you run ClamAV™ with amavisd the e-mail delivery will stop working. amavisd issues temporary SMTP delivery errors. Ugrades are available for the major recent GNU/Linux distributions. If you use Debian Lenny, then you are strongly advised to use the package source from the Debian Volatile Project. The normal package from the 5.0 stable branch does not include ClamAV™ 0.95.x. It is recommended to use the debian-volatile source with e-mail filters, because the feeds react much faster to evolving malware. If you are not sure what do to or require assistance please let us know.
