Party Mode On - web.luchs.at turns 25 Years!

"We" as a company project have been around for 25 years now. The core of web.luchs.at is an individual company that has gathered co-operation partners (and experience) over the years and manages projects in many areas of information technology. web.luchs.at is therefore older than many technology companies that are often in the headlines. Even after a quarter of a century, there are still no plans to go public. This longevity is due to the mix of technologies used in the projects. Customers benefit from experience, vendor neutrality and free software. Infrastructure must not be built on black box technology. Traceability, open standards and open protocols are the best building blocks.

The term free software is often misunderstood. Free software means software that guarantees freedom. It is not about financial value or commercial use, which incidentally does not contradict free software. The availability of the source code guarantees insight into the functionality and allows it to be inspected. This is particularly important when it comes to security, customisation or bug fixing. Over the last 25 years, there have often been situations that could not have been solved without access to the source code. The solutions have usually led to bug reports to the development team, which has improved the code. Of course, the reaction always depends on the number of people using the software. As a rule, almost all software projects with a free licence have competent contact persons. With the right licence, everyone benefits from bug reports and the resulting patches.

In our experience, requirements for certifications can also be met with Free Software. Of course, this requires the right mix of products and services. Especially when it comes to BSI basic protection, ISO 27001/27002, the upcoming NIS2 directive or GDPR regulations, this choice gives you a clear advantage. Here's to the next 25 years ;)
